MO603PREVALENCE AND PROGNOSTIC SIGNIFICANCE OF MALNUTRITION IN DIALYSIS PATIENTS UNDERGOING ENDOVASCULAR THERAPY FOR PERIPHERAL ARTERY DISEASE

چکیده

Abstract Background and Aims Malnutrition often coexists with inflammation atherosclerosis is associated adverse clinical outcomes in dialysis patients. However, both prevalence prognostic significance of preexisting malnutrition patients peripheral artery disease (PAD) referred for endovascular therapy are not well known. Method A prospective cohort 395 undergoing PAD between 2005 2019 was studied. Nutritional status assessed at admission by using the Controlling Status (CONUT) score, a simple tool incorporating serum albumin concentration, total lymphocyte count, cholesterol concentration. Patients were divided into 4 groups based on CONUT score: normal nutrition (0–1), mild (2–4), moderate (5–8), severe (9–12). We examined associations all-cause mortality as major limb events (MALE) cardiovascular (MACE) Cox proportional hazards models. Results According to 40.8% moderately or severely malnourished. During median follow-up 2.1 years, 218 (55.2%) died, 211 (53.4%) had MALE, MACE occurred 135 (34.2%) Severely malnourished patients, compared nutritional status, significantly increased risk death (adjusted hazard ratio [HR], 4.83; 95% confidence interval [CI], 2.56 9.12) particular non-cardiovascular HR, 7.20; CI, 3.22 16.08) MALE 2.42; 1.23 4.74) but 1.81; 0.74 4.40). Similar results found when score analyzed continuous variable. Conclusion common strongly among requiring therapy. Clinical trials needed evaluate whether interventions improve PAD.

Prevalence and risk factors associated with peripheral artery disease in elderly patients undergoing peritoneal dialysis

BACKGROUND Rapid growth of the elderly peritoneal dialysis (PD) population is posing a special challenge for renal teams. Peripheral artery disease (PAD) has been reported to be an independent predictor of cardiovascular and all-cause mortality in hemodialysis patients. However, the prevalence and associated risk factors for PAD in elderly PD patients have not yet been fully investigated. MET...

Endovascular intervention for peripheral artery disease.

Advances in endovascular therapies during the past decade have broadened the options for treating peripheral vascular disease percutaneously. Endovascular treatment offers a lower risk alternative to open surgery in many patients with multiple comorbidities. Noninvasive physiological tests and arterial imaging precede an endovascular intervention and help localize the disease and plan the proce...

Impact of endovascular therapy on oxidative stress in patients with peripheral artery disease.

BACKGROUND Atherosclerosis is believed to be caused by oxidative stress. Endovascular therapy (EVT) is effective for claudication of patients with peripheral artery disease (PAD). However, its effect on oxidative stress in PAD patients is unknown. Here, the impact of EVT on oxidative stress in PAD patients is investigated. METHODS AND RESULTS Twenty-five PAD patients (Rutherford stage II or I...

Prognostic value of right ventricular myocardial performance index in patients undergoing coronary artery bypass surgery

Abstract Background: Right ventricular myocardial performance index (RVMPI) is a Doppler–derived parameter of non-geometrical ventricular function that measures both systolic and diastolic functions of the right ventricle. The aim of this study is to compare prognostic value of RVMPI with global RV function in patients undergoing Coronary Artery Bypass Graft (CABG). Methods: In a longitudinal ...
